Wednesday, April 29, 2026
10:30 AM - 11:30 AM MDT
Location: 501
This session explores how food security initiatives can serve as powerful, recovery-oriented interventions that advance mental wellbeing, dignity, and equity. Drawing on examples such as employing urban farmers and community fridge stewards, we will explore how food access can be reimagined as both a workforce pathway and a community resilience strategy. Attendees will learn replicable models that integrate food, employment, and behavioral health supports, while centering social justice and inclusion.
Learning Objectives:
Identify how food security initiatives can function as recovery-oriented interventions that support mental wellbeing and community inclusion.
Apply strategies for integrating employment pathways (e.g., urban farmers, community fridge stewards) into behavioral health and human service settings.
Adapt replicable, equity-driven models that align food access, workforce development, and social justice to strengthen resilience in their own communities.
