Director of the First Responder Resilience Project
The Quell Foundation
Mike Wynn retired from the Pittsfield (MA) Police Department in 2023 after nearly thirty years of service.
He started his career in Pittsfield in 1993 as the first director of a community policing program in one of the City’s worst drug-impacted neighborhoods. In 1995, Wynn joined the Pittsfield Police Department as a patrol officer. In December 2007, he took command of the Department.
As an officer with PPD, Wynn created the department’s full-time Training Unit. Additionally, under his direction as an Officer and Sergeant, the department’s internal training was expanded to include all essential training topics. In 2021, Chief Wynn was appointed as one of the initial nine Commissioners to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts’ newly created Peace Officers Standards and Training Commission (POST-C). He still occasionally serves as a use-of-force case reviewer for POST-C investigators.
In July of 2023, Wynn retired from the Pittsfield Police Department to focus more attention on his growing family. In July of 2025, Wynn joined The Quell Foundation as the Director of the First Responder Resilience Project.
