Carolyn Rekerdres, MD, is an adult community psychiatrist and expert in clinical innovation. After growing up in a rural county in Texas she trained at UT Southwestern Medical Center in psychiatry and has focused her career on advancing evidence based treatments for patients with severe and persistent mental illness with a focus on rural and underserved populations. Dr. Rekerdres has expertise ACT psychiatry, emergency psychiatry, inpatient psychiatry, homeless psychiatry and administrative psychiatry in the past. She began utilizing telepsychiatry in 2016 and has been a national leader in telemedicine applications to address workforce shortage. She is currently the Medical Director for the NE region of ETBHN and the associate medical director of Pecan Valley Behavioral Health Center, a rural CCBHC in Texas.
