Spencer Healey is a dedicated Recovery Support Specialist working within an Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) and Substance Use Program at Rushford. In this role, which he has held for the past two years, Spencer has been instrumental in shaping and advancing the peer support model for individuals navigating the complex intersection of brain injury and substance use disorders.
Spencer brings a unique and compassionate perspective to his work, informed by an eclectic professional background. After earning a degree in Philosophy from Dalhousie University, he spent 18 years building a successful career in horticulture. Later, his passion for helping others led him to a transitional role teaching music and tutoring at an adolescent inpatient program, which sparked a deeper commitment to behavioral health services.
Since joining Rushford, Spencer has played a pivotal role in the development and implementation of recovery support services tailored to the ABI and substance use population. His lived experience, empathetic approach, and dedication to client-centered care have made him a valued member of the team.
Spencer is currently pursuing a Master of Social Work (MSW), further deepening his capacity to support and advocate for vulnerable populations. He remains committed to personal growth, professional excellence, and meaningful service to those in need.
