Sai Ganbote is a researcher, healthcare innovator, and youth advocate dedicated to advancing equity in medical education, mental health policy, and neuroscience research. At the selective Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy, Sai leads student engagement in healthcare, entrepreneurship, and policy as the President of the Medical Society and Entrepreneurship Club. She co-developed Careisma, an AI-powered school healthcare system that became a finalist in multiple pitch competitions. An internationally ranked speaker and debater, Sai uses public speaking to advocate for critical social issues. On her city youth council, she connects 45,000 students to opportunities through newsletters and organizes an annual 300-student citywide summit, fostering youth-driven policy recommendations. Sai conducts neuroimaging research at Northwestern University, analyzing brain activity and cognitive responses to improve mental health diagnostics. Simultaneously, her research on ethnic disparities in healthcare, initiated during an internship with a U.S. congressman, examines systemic barriers to care. She has secured corporate sponsorships and thousands in funding for mental health services in underserved communities. Determined to redefine mental health education, Sai drafted a legislative bill to integrate comprehensive mental health curricula into Illinois schools, ensuring students have a support system of resources. Collaborating with state representatives, the Illinois Board of Education, and leading mental health organizations, she is shaping policies that will destigmatize mental health and transform student well-being for generations to come. At the intersection of medicine and innovation, Sai researched at Stanford University, investigating cardiovascular risk reduction in comparison to mental health illnesses. She has also organized national conferences for the Society of Critical Care Medicine, connecting professionals and students to discussions on critical care advancements. As co-founder of Youth 4 Neuro Chicago, she strives to expand neuroscience education. Through these efforts, Sai continues to bridge science, policy, and community impact, driving meaningful change in education, advocacy, and research.
