Co-Occurring Administrator
SHIELDS for Families
Los Angeles, California
My name is Colette Harley and I work currently as the Co-Occurring Disorder Administrator for the Behavioral Health Services division, at SHIELDS for Families. I have a Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Counseling and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. I have worked at SHIELDS for Families for 20 years and throughout this time I have worked primarily within the Substance Abuse and Mental Health divisions. I have worked closely within our substance abuse programs providing case management, clinical and Administrative support. One of my roles was program manager of our Family Centered treatment program. The Exodus program was the only family centered treatment program in the country that allowed an entire family to enter treatment services together and receive services such as substance abuse treatment, educational/vocational, case management, mental health support, child development and parenting services. In working with the Exodus program, I was able to develop relationships with these families that spanned beyond their time in treatment and they have maintained a connection with the agency because of the services they received and relationships with staff. I have worked as Clinical Coordinator which allowed me to work closely with our mental health clinicians to service our families using Evidenced Based practices and other field based and home-based therapy services. I’ve had the opportunity to provide BBS supervision to registered trainees through direct and group supervisions. Currently, I work as the Co-Occurring Disorder Administrator for Behavior Health Services. This role allows me to focus on oversight and support of program operations, including supervision of clinical leads/program staff, implementation of policies and procedures and contractual requirements of our BHS division, specifically as it pertains to our contractual requirements with the Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Prevention Control agency. My role provides me the opportunity to continue the work with the families in our community by supporting and contributing to the growth of our programs and staff.
