Savana Milroy is a powerful advocate and transformational leader whose lived experience drives meaningful change within the child welfare system. As a Peer Supervisor and Parent Mentor for Morrison Child and Family Services, she serves Marion/Polk Counties as a Parent Mentor and provides peer supervision for Douglas County and Hood River/The Dalles regions.
Drawing from her personal journey through substance use disorder recovery, child welfare involvement, houselessness, domestic violence, and systemic racism, Savana brings an authentic and empathetic approach to supporting families in crisis. Her path from adversity to advocacy demonstrates the transformative power of resilience and community support.
As a bi-racial African American woman and member of the BIPOC community, Savana uniquely positions herself to advocate for systemic changes that create more inclusive and equitable outcomes for marginalized families. She actively serves on multiple influential committees and boards, including the Parents Advisory Council, Punx with Purpose, and the Keeping Families Together Housing Project Advisory group, where she uses her lived experience to inform policy reforms and drive positive change.
Savana's work extends beyond individual mentoring to encompass broader systems advocacy, addressing critical issues such as housing instability and racial equity. Her contributions ensure that the voices of often-overlooked families are heard and their needs are met within the child welfare system.
A devoted mother to her 19-year-old daughter and 10-year-old son, Savana's personal and professional experiences converge to create a powerful testament to the possibility of transformation and the importance of community support in fostering thriving families.
