Vice President & Chief Operating Officer
CNS Healthcare
Michele Reid, MD, is a community psychiatrist at CNS Healthcare, a Medicaid Demonstration Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) serving Wayne, Oakland, and Macomb counties in Michigan.
A career community psychiatrist, she previously served five years as Chief Medical Officer and five years as Medical Director and has helped drive the organization’s growth by securing Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) grants supporting primary and behavioral health integration, Zero Suicide initiatives, and CCBHC expansion.
Dr. Reid also helped facilitate CNS Healthcare’s merger with Northeast Integrated Health— another CCBHC—doubling capacity and community reach. Committed to expanding access to integrated, lifespan care for underserved populations, she is a Clinical Assistant Professor in Wayne State University’s Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neurosciences, where she has long taught the community mental health didactic rotation. Michele Reid, MD, is a graduate of Fisk University and Meharry Medical College, two Historically Black Colleges and Universities.
A Distinguished Life Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, she has served two terms as Trustee-At-Large, is a member of the APA Membership Committee, and was an APA/National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) Fellow during residency. She serves on the Board of Regents of The American College of Psychiatrists and chairs its Diversity, Respectful Inclusion, and Equity Committee. Dr. Reid is a Board-Certified Psychiatrist and a member of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology’s Professionalism Committee.
Active in community education and nonprofit leadership, Dr. Reid is a 2024 honoree of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Michigan Lifetime Achievement Award for decades of service, advocacy, and stigma reduction.
Dr. Reid has been married to Eddie Lamar Harris, a retired hospital administrator, for the past 30 years. Her daughter Yasmine Harris-Straw, BSN, MSN, works for a VA Medical Center in Virginia.
