Cindy Gipson, PhD, assistant director of intensive services, joined AltaPointe Health, Alabama's largest behavioral health provider, in 2012. Before joining AltaPointe, Dr. Gipson worked for the Williamson County Mobile Crisis Outreach team in Texas and was responsible for responding to 911 and crisis hotline calls for mental health emergencies. She earned a doctorate in psychology from the University of Texas at Austin and a master's degree in community counseling from the University of South Alabama. Dr. Gipson was instrumental in AltaPointe Health being awarded the Assisted Outpatient Treatment (AOT) grant in 2016. AOT works in conjunction with the local court systems to improve the lives of people living with chronic, serious mental illness by offering a program designed to provide services in the community that aid in reducing the number and length of inpatient involuntary and voluntary hospitalizations, encounters with law enforcement and increasing compliance with outpatient appointments and medication adherence. Dr. Gipson has more than 27 years of experience in mental health and is licensed by the state of Alabama.
