Jim Pavlik, MA, TTS is Sr. Program and Policy Analyst at the Behavioral Health and Wellness Program at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus, where he spent more than a decade at the intersection of behavioral health systems and tobacco use disorder treatment. He holds a National Certification in Nicotine and Tobacco Treatment from NAADAC, serves as recurring faculty in BHWP's accredited Rocky Mountain Tobacco Treatment Specialist Certification Program that he helped design.
Much of his work has focused specifically on tobacco cessation in behavioral health populations — people with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders. He has designed and led multi-state learning communities for state and county health departments, authored peer-reviewed publications on systems-level tobacco cessation support as well as several practice toolkits on tobacco treatment, and provided direct technical assistance to clinicians and health systems on integrating cessation into complex care environments.
