Tonie Dreher serves as the Assistant Team Leader for the CASES newSTART program, an innovative alternative-to-incarceration initiative dedicated to supporting individuals navigating mental health and substance use challenges. With over ten years of service at CASES, Tonie has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to advocacy, recovery, and the transformative power of second chances.
A passionate and courageous voice in behavioral health, Tonie is a staunch advocate for individuals living with mental health and substance use disorders. Her personal recovery journey was featured in the book Profiles in Mental Health Courage, where she shared her story to inspire hope and resilience in others. Tonie has delivered keynote addresses at the Alaska Behavioral Health Conference and has presented at NATCON, speaking to national audiences of providers about addiction, mental health, and sustainable recovery. She has also been featured on several podcasts, using every platform as an opportunity to carry the message that change is possible.
Currently pursuing her master's degree in social work, Tonie continues to deepen her professional expertise while remaining grounded in lived experience. She has received numerous awards and holds multiple professional affiliations, including one she is especially proud of—Action for Progress, founded by Patrick Kennedy.
