Beth earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Work from Kansas State University and then went on to earn a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Kansas. She is a Licensed Specialist Clinical Social Worker. She has worked at Horizons Mental Health Center since 1989. Beth started out as the Department Head for the Community Services department, working with adults who have severe and persistent mental illnesses. In 2014 she became the Department Head for Clinical Integration, which at times has included oversight of services at the Reno County Correctional Facility, Hutchinson High School, PrairieStar Health Clinic and The Hutchinson Clinic. In 2016, Prevention, Education and Outreach was added to the department making Beth the Director of Communication, Education & Engagement. Beth is a trainer for Mandt (a program that uses a continuous learning and development approach to prevent, de-escalate, and if necessary, intervene in behavioral interactions that could become aggressive), ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training), SuicideTALK, as well as Mental Health First Aid (Youth, Adult,teen and has designations in the Fire/EMS, Community Corrections and First Responder modules).
