Stephanie is a Ph.D student in Forensic Psychology at Walden University and is currently the medical coordinator and licensed counselor at the Howard County jail in Big Spring, TX. She works as an advocate in the jail for individuals with mental illness and substance use concerns and helps individuals gain access to medical and mental health treatment while incarcerated. Most recently, Stephanie was able to work with a community counseling service to bring substance use counseling into the jail setting and is working to make treatment an option before prison. Stephanie works closely with the local mental health authority and their jail diversion program to assist individuals leaving the jail to continue with medical and mental health medications, procure housing, and even find viable employment options. Stephanie is dedicated to advocating for the justice-involved population and reducing recidivism by offering hope.
