Shelley Hammond is completing her Master's Degree in Urban Health at Drexel University and is studying the effects of dental deserts and lack of access to dental care for many U.S. residents. Ms. Hammond has spent the past 15 years working as a Health Communications Specialist at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), where she most recently focused on creating deep partnerships with organizations like ADHA to help more patients quit smoking to improve oral- and overall- health. A current student focusing on advocacy and social justice in her curriculum, Ms. Hammond also holds as Master's Degree in Mass Communication from the University of Georgia. She is dedicated to bringing more awareness to oral health, dental disease, and the importance of dental hygiene and preventive care to the U.S. public health community at large. She is representing herself at this conference.
