Asian Pacific Clinic Health Navigator
Aurora Mental Health and Recovery
Aurora, Colorado
My name is Htay, and I am a Community Health Navigator at the Asian Pacific Clinic. I’m originally from Thailand, and I speak both Karenni and Burmese. I’m a proud mother of three children and currently attending CCA to continue my education and grow in my role. I’ve been working at the Clinic for more than four years, supporting the Karenni and Burmese communities. As a Health Navigator, I help clients in many ways, such as making and preparing for medical and therapy appointments, connecting them to insurance and social services, and providing follow-up care. I also support with case management tasks like applying for Medicaid, SNAP, Xcel Energy assistance, job applications, and more. Transportation is another important part of my work. I help clients by scheduling, canceling, or booking rides so they can get to their appointments on time. I serve as a bridge between the community and healthcare providers. I explain treatment plans in ways that are culturally and linguistically appropriate, and I support clients in building trust with their therapists. My goal is to make it easier for people to access the care they need by removing barriers like language, transportation, and system challenges. I care deeply about helping refugee and immigrant families feel safe, supported, and respected. I want my community to feel like they belong, and that their voices are hear.
