Ellen Roberts has served as Director of Ardmore Behavioral Health Collaborative since 2020, where she works to build a healthy, connected, resilient community through collaborative approaches to behavioral health. A born and raised Oklahoman, Ellen brings 19 years of non-profit experience specializing in program management and communication. She received her Bachelor of Science from East Central University in 2006, where she studied mass communication and social work. Ellen is the chair of the Carter County Emergency Food and Shelter Program Board and serves on a variety of other community committees and coalitions.
One of Ellen's strengths is facilitation and collaborative leadership. She excels at bringing diverse stakeholders and organizations to the table to tackle complex social problems, creating space for productive dialogue and collective action. This strength is exemplified in her role leading the local homelessness task force, where she convenes community partners across sectors to develop coordinated solutions to one of the region's most pressing challenges.
Ellen is also a NEAR Mentor Trainer expanding community knowledge of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs). She first learned about ACEs when she served as director of a maternity shelter for 10 years and saw firsthand the generational impact of trauma. Since then she has become passionate about educating people from every walk of life about ACEs, their effects, and how to mitigate them.
