Kerry Rivard, LMHC, is a licensed mental health counselor with over 25 years of experience helping adolescents and adults navigate trauma, personality disorders, and persistent mental illness. She is committed to delivering evidence-based, values-driven care that leads to meaningful and lasting change.
Across her work as a clinician, supervisor, program director, consultant, and trainer, Kerry has focused on bringing scientifically supported treatments into real-world settings. She has extensive experience implementing innovative approaches and training clinicians to create meaningful behavior change while maintaining strong therapeutic relationships.
Kerry is trained in several gold-standard treatments, including Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Prolonged Exposure (PE and DBT-PE), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Written Exposure Therapy (WET), Collaborative Assessment and Management of Suicide (CAMS), and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). She is also a strong advocate for measurement-based care, using data to guide treatment and improve outcomes.
She previously served as Clinical Director and DBT Coordinator for a Massachusetts Department of Mental Health–funded program and as Program Director of the 3-East DBT Residence at McLean Hospital. In addition to maintaining a private practice for over 15 years, she is nationally recognized for her expertise in DBT and consults with organizations to support high-quality implementation of the model.
Kerry currently serves as Director of Evidence-Based Treatment at Eliot Community Human Services, where she co-designed the clinical model for two Community Behavioral Health Centers in Massachusetts. She co-developed a unified, transdiagnostic approach to care and co-authored a comprehensive treatment guide and intervention library. These centers were established to expand access to integrated, evidence-based behavioral health services for underserved communities across the state, and Kerry plays a pivotal role in shaping both the clinical vision and its day-to-day implementation. She also trains clinicians systemwide and presents regularly at regional and national conferences.
Known for her clarity, warmth, and strategic approach, Kerry provides psychotherapy that is precise, goal-directed, and tailored to each client’s values—helping people move beyond entrenched patterns and build meaningful, sustainable change.
