Dr. John Kastan is a healthcare executive and strategic consultant with over 35 years of transformational leadership experience across complex healthcare and social services organizations. As founder of his independent consulting practice, he specializes in strategic planning, organizational development, mergers and acquisitions, and crisis management for healthcare systems and behavioral health organizations. As former Chief Program Officer, Chief Strategy and Innovation Officer, and Interim CEO of The Jewish Board—one of New York City’s largest health and social service agencies—John led enterprise-wide initiatives including strategic planning, major portfolio integrations, and the deployment of a system-wide telehealth platform. He also spearheaded the successful integration of the $75 million FEGS mental health portfolio, maintaining continuity and performance during a complex organizational transition.
John has also held senior roles in hospital, academic, and government settings in New York City—including Mount Sinai Hospital, St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital, and St. Vincent’s Hospital, as well as in New York City’s public mental health system. His expertise spans crisis response, integrated care, behavioral health redesign, Medicaid transformation, and policy advocacy. He is a former Board Member of The National Council.
