Artificial intelligence is rapidly moving from experimentation to frontline use across behavioral health, affecting clinical care, patient engagement, documentation, workforce capacity, and population health management. This session examines how AI tools are already being used by patients and providers, the operational and clinical opportunities they create, and the emerging risks related to safety, bias, and quality that organizations must manage. Participants will learn practical considerations for evaluating, implementing, and governing AI in behavioral health settings so organizations can responsibly expand access to care while protecting patients and staff.
Learning Objectives:
Describe the major clinical and operational use cases for AI in behavioral health, including documentation support, predictive risk identification, remote monitoring, and patient engagement.
Evaluate safety, quality, and bias risks associated with mental health AI tools and identify governance and oversight strategies to mitigate harm.
Apply key considerations for selecting and implementing AI solutions that supports workforce capacity, improves care coordination, and aligns with regulatory and ethical expectations.
