Poster 22 - Integrated Safety Planning: Addressing Risk for Suicide, Overdose and Social Drivers
Monday, April 27, 2026
12:30 PM - 1:00 PM MDT
Location: Screen 11, Exhibit Hall Poster Pavilion
This session unveils an evidence-informed decision-flow framework that guides frontline staff to select the right type of safety plan (Suicide Safety Plan, Overdose Safety Plan, or Wellness/Resource Plan) based on a individual's most urgent risk. Through interactive case examples, participants will practice using this integrated approach and take home tools to apply it in their own practice. The result is a unified safety planning strategy that addresses suicide risk, overdose risk, and social needs in one streamlined approach.
Learning Objectives:
Identify an individual's most urgent risk domain using a decision-flow framework and determine which type of safety plan to activate (Suicide Safety Plan, Overdose Safety Plan, or Wellness/Resource Plan).
Develop a tailored safety plan using an integrated safety planning framework that incorporates multi-risk strategies (e.g., adding overdose-prevention steps to a suicide safety plan or vice versa) to reduce risk.
Integrate social drivers of health (e.g., housing or food insecurity) into the safety planning process to enhance whole-person care and reduce both suicide and overdose risk.
